TDOT Smooth Paving Award: Hwy. 14

Our teams always strive to perform to the best of their abilities and at the highest quality.  Though no one does it for the recognition, receiving recognition from an industry organization is certainly worthy of celebration.

During the Tennessee Road Builders Association annual meeting, we received the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Smooth Paving Award for work performed on Highway 14 in Tipton County, Tennessee.  For each of the four regions, TDOT only awards one recipient in two categories defined by total project costs.

Based on ride-ability of the asphalt pavement, all TDOT work done in Region 4 was tested, and our work on Highway 14 was deemed to be the smoothest for projects costing less than $1,500,000. Quality this high can only be achieved by dedicated partnerships between asphalt plants, paving teams and quality control. The team at Plant 5, along with the grading team working under Greg Ketchum and Dennis Harrod’s paving crew, are to be congratulated for their award-worthy work.
