As we near the finish line of our 2023 construction season, Tethion Jones, aka “Shaun,” is doing so with a new leadership title: Paving Crew Foreman.
Having served with our family of companies for more than 25 years, Shaun is someone who lets his work do the talking rather than seeking the acclaim of the spotlight. It’s for these reasons and many more that he has been praised as an above-and-beyond example of our core values.
Perhaps most impressive is Shaun’s diligence with our core value of continuous improvement to work his way through the ranks. When he first started on the team, he did so as an entry-level employee. Jarod Riles (General Superintendent) shared, “We’ve watched Tethion grow over the years from entry-level, to running the paver, to leadman, and now foreman. He’s shown continuous improvement and never complains… Instead, he does what it takes to get the job done.”
It’s likely that when Shaun is mentioned by his peers, they are doing so with specific mention to his humility. His crew will tell you that, more often than not, Shaun is the first person at the job site each day and one of the last to leave.
This “lead by example” mentality has served Shaun and his team extremely well. Preston Bryson (Superintendent) remarked, “He’s done really well with the crew and working with the men on his team.” Greg Ketchum (Assistant Superintendent) agreed and added, “Shaun is very knowledgeable [about the projects] and always does a great job.”
Jeremy Ramberg (SVP of Construction) closed by saying, “In the last few years, I have watched Tethion grow into the remarkable leader he is today. His calm leadership, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to safe and quality construction make him the ideal role model for aspiring leaders. I find his story truly inspiring and fully commend Tethion for what he does day in and day out.“
As he enters the next phase of his career, Shaun’s duties will focus on understanding DOT measures and quality control guidelines while balancing safety standards and construction deadlines. In addition, he will be directing, teaching, and managing all onsite team members while supervising subcontractors and equipment.
The road ahead is certainly bright for this newly promoted Paving Foreman with our family of companies. Well done, Shaun!
