Having just celebrated her 20th anniversary with our team, Star Lewis has been integral to the success of Lehman-Roberts and sister company Memphis Stone & Gravel over the years.
Equipped with knowledge from prior roles, Star has had a hand in nearly every part of the two companies since her start. From her early days of ticket writing at the Anderson and DeSoto wash plants, Star also filled in at asphalt plants 4 and 6 several times. She later transitioned to serving as a Sales Representative, where she consistently received glowing reviews from her team and customers alike. This expertise of the local industry, along with working closely with trucking partners over the years, made Star the ideal candidate for the new appointment of Logistics Technician.
In this role, Star will be responsible for supporting the daily coordination and monitoring of all asphalt, asphalt products, and aggregates related to hauling and trucking operations in the Greater Memphis Area. All of which will optimize trucking production efficiency and streamline communication of trucking capacity with superintendents, foremen, and project managers. She will be working alongside daughter and fellow co-worker, Danielle Moore, who will be responsible for all Batesville-area hauling and trucking operations.
“It wasn’t just Star’s background that made her the perfect fit, but also the above and beyond mentality she always brings to the table. Without fail, Star’s name is always mentioned when stellar service to others is being discussed,” said Will Castle, Director of Logistics and to whom Star will report.
Will added, “We are excited to bring her on in this role as we seek to increase the efficiency of our logistics department.”
It comes as no surprise that Star is continually praised as a true example of our core values. In short, she takes great pride in the work and the people she is serving. Her people-first mindset is fueled by her exceptional ability to uplift others. Day in and day out, Star has been a diligent steward of resources and a treasurer of the relationships she holds.
When asked to reflect on her time with the company thus far and the path ahead, Star shared, “This is a position that I’ve dreamt of having for nearly 15 years. I am just so excited about this opportunity.”
Roy Rothenberger, Star’s former supervisor and the company Sales Manager added, “Thanks to Star for all her hard work in the sales department. It has been an honor working with her and leading her for the past couple of years. She will do great in this new role but will be missed [in our sales team].”
Eddie Ragsdale, Superintendent and a long-time colleague of Star’s closed with, “Star is extremely devoted. She has always gone [out of her way] in ensuring our customers are happy with the end result.”
We are confident that same level of care will be taken with our independent trucking partners. Congrats, Star!
