Serving Lehman-Roberts (LR) and sister company Memphis Stone & Gravel (MSG), both part of the Granite group of companies, John Hogan is taking a new road on his journey: Retirement. Having been a member of the team for more than 23 years, John’s talents have been treasured within the accounting department.
Before his departure, John served with pride as a Customer Service Specialist, where he was responsible for processing material sales tickets and customer invoices. Yet, John’s passion for his role was evident when it came to communicating with his team. He took immense satisfaction in the relationships he upheld among multiple aspects of the company, including the sales team, ticket writers, customers, and more.
“John has been an integral part of the accounting group. It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that we wish John and his wife, Ilene, many blessings as he enters retirement,” said Drew Koester, Senior Director of Finance. “We will miss his dedication, kind heart, and the care in which he dealt with both co-workers and customers.”
Kristy Soldati, Senior Manager, added, “As soon as I arrived [to LR/MSG], John made me feel welcome. He was a vital asset to the Accounts Receivables team. John will definitely be missed, but we wish him the happiest of retirements!”
“Those who know John will know that he is extremely dependable,” added Nicole Billingsley, Accounting Supervisor, who has worked closely with John. “He has been an incredibly loyal employee, and we wish him all the best in this new season of life.”
Rhonda Bryson and Breanna Sanders, both members of the Accounts Payable team, spoke highly of John’s efforts to support their roles as needed. Rhonda said, “I’ve worked with John for about 20 years, and he was always going above and beyond to get tasks done.” Breanna added, “John was passionate about the work he did. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.”
Yet, John’s dedication to our company culture was even more evident in his actions to train new team members and heavily participate in the community engagement program. Cheyenne Harrod, who joined the team in early 2023, spoke on the effect John had on her career. She shared, “John was always willing to help me, no matter what questions I had. I really learned a lot from him and will carry it on throughout my time here.”
In cases of team service projects and career fairs, more often than not, John was the first name listed on the sign-up list. Whether he was painting a facility for a local community partner, participating in a food drive, or even bowling in a non-profit fundraiser, John was always doing so with a smile. When asked what made him so committed to serving others, John always simply replied, “I just like doing these kinds of projects and serving others.”
Known as an avid Memphis Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals fan, we are confident John will enjoy his free time cheering on his favorite teams. As he settles into the new rhythms of retirement, we wish John and his family many days ahead, filled with joy and prosperity!
