Earlier this month, two of our teams prepared to kick off the 2025 season with clean and reliable equipment. This initiative was made possible by the successful launch of our first C.L.A.I.R.E. event of the year.
C.L.A.I.R.E., which stands for Clean, Lubricate, Adjust, Inspect, Repair, and Eliminate, incorporates our core value of stewardship into our maintenance practices. Overall, we use this annual event as an opportunity to improve our operator care process and enhance equipment reliability during the busy season.
Road teams led by Daniel Barajas and Tethion Jones worked diligently to revamp a vast lineup of machinery, including a skid steer, a milling machine, a paver, a backhoe, and two power brooms.
Colton Collins, Continuous Improvement Program Manager, shared his insights on how C.L.A.I.R.E. prepares our teams for success. He stated, “It is always amazing to see the team exemplify our core values during C.L.A.I.R.E. events, and these crews were no exception. I am extremely proud of the work this group put in to be good stewards of our equipment. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish during the season.”
We also heard from some members of the participating teams about their firsthand experiences with the C.L.A.I.R.E. event. Tethion Jones, Foreman, shared, “Overall, I think the team did a great job. We had several new members who had never participated in one before. It will set us up for success because everything is clean and ready for the season ahead.”
Daniel Barajas, Foreman, added, “The C.L.A.I.R.E. events that we host are a really good tool for the new team members and even seasoned peers on the crew. It helps us go through every crevice, down to every bolt, on the machines that we use every day. C.L.A.I.R.E. reinforces and teaches everyone on the crew how to upkeep and maintain the equipment we use every day.”
Rene Arana, loader operator, concluded, “As a first-timer going through a C.L.A.I.R.E. event, I learned how to care for equipment beyond the one I operate. It helped me understand what to look for if I see something that needs attention and maintenance.”
