Every individual has traits that set them apart within the day-to-day grind, be it an unwavering commitment to supporting the team, a hunger to grow skillsets, or even the goal to never accept the status quo. Daniel Barajas is a great example of all three of these traits, and we’re thrilled to announce his recent promotion from Leadman to Grade Crew Foreman.
Daniel’s journey with our family of companies is already testament to his relentless work ethic. Having started with his crew at the beginning of 2020, he was trained early on to operate the milling machine. After catching on quickly, he soon stepped into the Leadman role before sitting in the leadership seat.
As he enters the next season of his career, his focus will be on understanding DOT measures and quality control guidelines while balancing safety standards and construction deadlines. In addition, Daniel will be directing, teaching, and managing all onsite team members while supervising subcontractors and equipment.
Greg Ketchum, current Assistant Superintendent and former Foreman, has been a mentor Daniel since day one. He explained what made Daniel such an asset. In short, his drive – a trait that we count as invaluable in the next generation of construction professionals and one that Daniel has regularly been commended for by his teammates.
Greg said, “Daniel wasn’t content with just being an Equipment Operator or Groundman. He wants to learn everything we do and is determined to be good at [it all].”
Greg added, “He really wants to understand why and how we do things in this industry.”
Jarod Riles (General Superintendent) added, “Daniel has been taught to always take pride in his work and to do the job right the first time. He’s done really well with this mentality so far.”
Jeremy Ramberg (Senior VP of Construction) expressed his immense confidence in Daniel, saying, “Daniel’s journey is truly remarkable and a testament to his exceptional dedication and inspiring drive. Despite his relatively short time in the industry, his achievements have been extraordinary.”
