Days of Service 2021

By: Taylor McPherson, Director of Communications & Community Engagement

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On January 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Lehman-Roberts and Memphis Stone & Gravel will once again show our support of neighboring communities through our annual MLK Day of Service. However, this year will look entirely different from the typical Day of Service in years past for a number of reasons.

While all employees will participate in our MLK Day of Service, this will also serve as a commencement for our Days of Service, in which our Construction Division will be carrying out a number of other service projects in the weeks to come. In addition, no company-wide gathering will be held at the start of the morning this year. Yet, our team is just as eager to honor the legacy left by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to strive for the betterment of others.

“It’s always a blessing to witness the immense impact our team has on the community each year through their willingness to lend a hand to their fellow neighbor,” said Pat Nelson, Chairman of the Board. “This is a day our employees look forward to, and we’re excited to use this as a kick-off point for another great year.”

2021 will mark the seventh year of the annual company tradition and will include more than 30 service projects ranging from painting and wall demo to landscape maintenance and debris cleanup. Partnerships include: Advance Memphis, Alcy Ball CDC, Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Clean Memphis, Jacob’s Ladder CDC, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Knowledge Quest, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Multinational Ministries, New Hope Christian Academy and STREETS Ministries.

We thank our employees and mission partners for their steadfast devotion to help others. We look forward to this pivotal day that will align our hearts and minds with our team goals for the year: ultimately to continue investing in and finding ways to improve our communities.
