If there’s one word to describe Kelvin Wright, many would choose the word analytical. Whether he’s asked to wear his hard hat or thinking cap, he’s served our team well since he joined in 1997.
We’re thrilled to announce his latest career progression, as he was appointed to Field Engineer at the start of the 2023 construction season. In this role, Kelvin will be key in overseeing projects, scheduling, communicating with both contractors and subcontractors, keeping up with quantities, and more. The team has already seen the benefit of his analytical thinking in action, most recently on paving jobs for portions of I-269 and Lamar Avenue located in Memphis, TN.
Jarod Riles, General Superintendent, shared, “Having previously been an asphalt paving Foreman for 10+ years, Kelvin’s overall knowledge of the job and planning ahead were always strong points of his.”
Don Fletcher, now the family of companies’ Director of Quality Control, previously worked closely with Kelvin during Don’s time as a Superintendent. He added, “Kelvin is a true blue. When given a task, Kelvin is always very innovative and thoughtful.” (*Editor’s Note: The saying here references a personality assessment used by the family of companies. Those scoring high in the blue scale reflect aptitude in balancing many details and analytical thinking)
Don went on to remark, “One paving job in particular that comes to mind is our work on Lamar Avenue. The deadline was approaching for the work to be completed, and I went to Kelvin to see if he could take a look. He came back with a plan. Give him a problem and he’ll find an unexpected, but good, solution.”
We look forward to seeing how Kelvin will thrive in this role, not just in this construction season, but many more on the horizon. Congrats, Kelvin!
