Lehman-Roberts Co., a leader in the asphalt production and paving industry, was awarded a Quality Asphalt Award in the category of “Best Small New Construction/Reconstruction” from the Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA). The award was presented to the company during the association’s annual conference in Biloxi, Mississippi.
“We’re honored to have received this award. Our team learned a lot on this job and we did that by partnering with MDOT staff to deliver a high-quality roadway for our true customers, the taxpayers,” said Michael Ellis, Vice President of Construction for Lehman-Roberts. “We approach every job with that as our ultimate goal and it is great to receive public recognition for a job well done.”
Lehman-Roberts won the award for the SR-315 project in Panola County, Mississippi, which was completed on behalf of the paving crew led by Darrell Franklin. For the project, Lehman-Roberts joined forces with Kimes & Stone, who were pivotal in ensuring success with their soil cement for the pavement base.
The SR-315 project was part of a larger exploratory pilot venture for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). The intentions of this project were to use findings to rebuild other three-digit routes that had failing or underperforming subbases within District 2.
