Lehman-Roberts Looks Ahead to 8th Annual MLK Day of Service

By: Taylor McPherson, Director of Communications and Community Engagement

On January 17, 2022, Lehman-Roberts and sister-company Memphis Stone & Gravel will gather once more for its next Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Now the eighth year of this annual tradition, more than 250 employees will spread out across the Mid-South to tackle service projects in neighboring communities.

Seen as the culmination of the family of companies’ mission statement – “Helping communities where we live and work to thrive” – this event consists of partnerships with more than 10 nonprofits and ministries. Each organization that is impacted through the day’s events specializes in fortifying resources and services for the community, namely in the areas of education, evangelism and community development.

“Without fail, our employees begin each year looking forward to this time of service and fellowship,” said Pat Nelson, Chairman of the Board. “We consider it a great honor to have built these partnerships over the years, as we all seek the same goal: to see our communities flourish.”

Encompassing more than 35 individual service projects, tasks range from clearing debris and light demolition work to painting and planting new greenery. 2022 partnerships will include Advance Memphis, Alcy Ball Development Corporation, Baptist Children’s Village, Knowledge Quest, Memphis Athletic Ministries, Multinational Ministries, New Hope Christian Academy, STREETS Ministries, and SCORE CDC. The family of companies will also be partnering with Pat’s Pro Cut and Wolf River Concrete, local concrete contractors, to provide resources at Alpha Omega Veterans Services.
